Stalwart Buttocks, Ho!

As you may have guessed from the title, Hublet and I finally made it to see (The) 300 in theatres this weekend. I loved it.

Manly men kicking ass in capes and underpants - check!

Limbs--Both Attached and Not! Flying! Through the air! - check!

Sweeping declarations of every single intention, delivered by bellowing men with the gravitas of Hamlet! - check!

Random crazy freakshow villains that seem to have wandered out of Lord of the Rings by accident - check!

And on a related note - seamless CGI! - check!

If nothing else, that movie was a visual treat. And not just because every single actor in the film appears to have done nothing but work out for 2 years prior to filming.

Chicks who kick ass without seeming out of place for their time! - Check!

Pissing off all the right overly-earnest, snobbish, and delusional people! - Check! Made me pay to see it twice!

That movie was a hoot. I could have sworn I saw the Emperor from Star Wars and Gollum in there.

I think the hunchback Gollum-like person made out like a bandit. He leaks to the Persians the back path, and in return gets hot chicks who like to kiss each other (and him) plus a cool dunce-like battle cap. A true fashion statement.

I was actually rooting for the villians the whole time, liking their attitude and fight outfits better. The Greeks looked a little too pumped and should have had a leaner Bruce Lee type of build. They all looked like bodybuilders during the off season, with one twinkie too much.
